Sachin lashes out at critics, says he will retire only when he stops enjoying cricket

Mumbai: Days after reaching tons of ton, Indian batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar lashed out at his critics saying that they were not the one to bring him to the team and it took him 23 years to reach where he is today.

In an interaction with the media, Sachin shunned his retirement calls and said that he would retire only when the he feels that he is not enjoying the game anymore and no one should tell him when to leave the game.

“I feel that the question of when I retire is something that I would decide because when I started it wasn't decided by someone else. Those who are advising me about retirement did not bring me in the team,” said Sachin.

“I get my strength from my coaches and family. When I feel I don’t have that, on that day, I will think of retirement,” added Sachin.Commenting on the idea that one should retire when one is at the top, he said that it is selfish thing to do because when one is doing good he should rather serve the country than retiring.

Talking about his 100 international centuries, a record which can very well remain untouched, he said, “I don’t know. I guess all the records are meant to be broken but I hope it’s an Indian. I don’t think you can predict that, but I hope it’s an Indian whenever it happens.”

Sachin reached that milestone in the recently against Bangladesh in a league matchup of the Asia Cup.
Sachin who has almost all the records of international cricket to his name, said nothing meant more to him than achieving his dream to play for India and winning the World Cup.

He also said the most memorable day in his career was when Sir Don Bradman included him in his all time Test XI.

Talking about the youngsters in the team, Sachin said that Virat Kohli was performing like a champion and has been in very good form. "But that doe not mean we shouldforget the other youngsters. They all are talented and we should respect them as well," said the Master Blaster, adding that a lot of things resulted in India's poor performance in last one year and injuries to players was one of them.

"But then the team is rebuilding and it will take time. When we became world champions and No 1 in Test, it wasn't in a day. So this will also take time," said Sachin.
