England defeat Pakistan by 5 runs to win series

Abu Dhabi: England defeated Pakistan by five runs to win the Twenty20 series. Before the match started both the teams have one win against their name. The match went to the last over and Pakistan needed 13 runs in the final over to win the series, they could only scored eight and came out on the losing side.

England batted first and posted a total of 129 runs. The visiting side would have been in deeper trouble if Kevin Pietersen wouldn’t have played through the innings. He scored an unbeaten 62 as wickets kept falling beside him. Pietersen hit a six on the final ball of their innings and interestingly Pakistan needed the same on their last ball, but their captain Misbah-ul-Haq failed to do that.

For Pakistan it was once again Saeed Ajmal who was the pick of the bowlers taking four wickets.

Pakistan had a bad start in their chase losing Mohammad Hafeez in the second over of their innings. After the first loss Pakistan did have a substantial partnership between Awais Zia and Asad Shafiq who put on 40 runs between them. Pakistan was always in the driving seat and was looking to finish the match comfortable. It was an inspired spell from the English captain, Stuart Broad which brought England back into the game. He bowled the 17th and the 19th run and conceded only eight runs.

Jade Dernbach bowled the last over and bowled with great accuracy and guile. Misbah needed to hit a six on the final delivery but he was bowled by Dernbach to give England the series victory.
