Bunbury: Despite playing good hockey, India failed to score enough, and had to be content with playing Australia A in the bronze medal match at Perth on Thursday.
India needed an outright victory against Pakistan to make it to the final, but could only manage a draw (1-1) on Tuesday at Bunbury. However, the match was played in high spirit, and both sides showed enormous sports spirit compared what happened on the last Friday, when the tempers ran high.
Sohail Abbas, who otherwise had a bad day, put Pakistan on driver’s seat with an immaculate conversion in the 2nd minute itself.
It was to the credit of young Yuvraj that India equalized in the 26th minute, he tapped on to a rebound from rival goal-keeper Imran Shah.
There were attacks plenty in the second half, but goals did not come. India's Chetri played a superb game.
