Learnt new skills of goalkeeping under Dave Staniforth: PR Sreejesh

PR Sreejesh Hero Champions Trophy 2014 in BhubaneswarNew Delhi: The India men hockey team started their training session at Auckland for the upcoming New Zealand Series which commences on 02 October. India is touring New Zealand for a 4-Test match series against New Zealand National Team and two matches against New Zealand A team. This Series will be a testing ground for Chief Coach Roelant Oltmans who has been working on various aspects of the game to further improve the performance of the team. The series is scheduled from 02 October to 11 October 2015 and the series is in preparation for the Hero Hockey World League Final 2015, which is scheduled from 27 November to 6 December in Raipur, India.

The wall of the Indian hockey team, PR Sreejesh is confident of putting a good show in the upcoming Test Series. Indian team had a very successful European tour recently where they convincingly defeated France and Spain. Having undergone a three week goalkeeping camp under Dave Staniforth, PR Sreejesh is looking more confident of his form and is positive of showcasing a more consolidated defence.

Speaking before the commencement of the Series, goalkeeper PR Sreejesh said, “The team has been training under the best coaches with an aim to showcase strong play yielding positive results. The three week camp under Dave Staniforth was a huge refreshing experience and I have learnt newer tricks of the trade which I am all set to get them in play. I had the opportunity to have learnt the art of goalkeeping under Dave in the past too and which helped me what I am today. This three week learning has added further value to my goalkeeping skills and I am feeling more confident. This tour will help me understand how best to further refine myself before the all important tournament which are scheduled in the next one year with Rio 2016 Olympics being the most important”

India and New Zealand A will be playing their first match on 2nd October 2015 in Auckland.
