Samui: Bangkok Airways, in collaboration with the Sports Authority of Thailand, Thailand PGA and the Asian Tour announced that the Queen’s Cup Bangkok Airways – SAT Samui Golf Tournament will take place from June 13 to 16.
The US$300,000 event, which is sanctioned by the Asian Tour and Thailand PGA, will be held in honor of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit.

Nandhika Varavarn, Vice President - Corporate Communications of Bangkok Airways said, “We are particularly excited to have organized this tournament for the fifth year in honor of our beloved Queen Sirikit, we have always strived to take Thai golf tournament to the international level. Moreover, the tournament is hoped to draw a larger number of golf enthusiasts which consequently stimulate Samui’s tourism.
“The previous years’ tournaments were very well received and were followed immensely from golf fans around the region which Samui has already become a new destination for Golf tourism.”
The tournament’s pro-am will be held on June 12 to give an exclusive chance to local amateur golfers to compete with Asia’s top professionals. The tournament will also be broadcast live on True Sport while the Queen's Cup will also be featured on the Asian Tour Golf and Highlights show.
Thaworn Wiratchant of Thailand will defend and headline the 2013 Queen’s Cup alongside Chawalit Plaphol and Chinnarat Phadungsil, who won the Queen’s Cup in 2011 and 2009 respectively.
Asian Tour Order of Merit leader Kiradech Aphibarnrat, Prayad Marksaeng, Arnond Vongvanij, Tetsuji Hiratsuka, Lee Sung, Scott Hend and Anirban Lahiri will also feature in the event.
