Cricketers to tee up alongside professionals at Indian Open Pro-Am

New Delhi: The cricketing fraternity will as usual be turning up in good numbers for the Pro-Am event, the traditional curtain-raiser to the Hero Indian Open golf tournament. The Pro-Am will be held on Wednesday, while the main professional event will be held at the Delhi Golf Club from Thursday, October 13, 2011.

Former India stars, Madan Lal, Murali Karthik and Nikhil Chopra, all regular golfers will be teeing up as will former England cricketers, Dermot Reeveand Mathew Hoggard besides Dave Richardson, the General Manager of the ICC.

Each four-ball at the Pro-Am will comprise a professional golfer and three amateurs, many of them well-known cricketers.

Golf has always been a very popular sport with the cricketers and quite a few of them have the potential to be single digit handicappers.

As for the main event, it begins on Thursday with about 144 players, including professionals from all over Asia and few from Europe and United States.
