Pune: It was a tough day in the park for Smriti Mehra as she failed to register any single birdie on a difficult scoring in the second round of the 14th leg of the Hero Women’s Professional Golf Tour on Thursday. She ended with a 76 with five bogeys.
As Smriti, who had a 68 on first day, struggled on second day, Nalini, despite a tough day with two birdies and four bogeys came back with a second straight 73 and cut the five-shot lead to two. Smriti is now two-over 144, while Nalini is four-over 146.
Saaniya Sharma was a distant third at 154 with a second round score of 76 and Ankita Tiwana (79) was fourth at 155. Vandana Aggarwal (81) was fifth at 158 and Neha Tripathi (81) was sixth at 159.
Last week’s winner Pallavi Jain had a tougher time than first day with a 86 and is lying tenth.
Currently Smriti leads the Money list with earnings of Rs. 6,69,600 while Nalini has earned Rs. 6,18,400. Sharmila is lying third (Rs. 470,400) but Neha Tripathi (4,18,250) has a chance of overhauling her with a good showing in last two legs.
This year Smriti has won five titles, while Nalini has three.
