India’s ace off-spinner Harbhajan Singh will tie the knot with his long-time girlfriend, model-actor Geeta Basra, in October, says a report in Hindustan Times, adding that as per a close family associate of Harbhajan, the marriage ceremony has been fixed on October 29 in Hotel Club Cabana in Phagwara, around 20 km from Jalandhar.
According to the report, the dates might change if Harbhajan is picked for upcoming South Africa series at home slated for the month of October. Bhajji, who is currently in Sri Lanka as a part of Indian Test squad, could not be contacted, but his cousin brother Gurpreet Vicky said that any disclosure about Bhajji's marriage would be made after the off-spinner returns to India.
A senior official from Club Cabana, however, confirmed the booking made by the family for the event. “'We have been booked for an event. We cannot disclose anything as we have been asked to maintain confidentiality,” said the club official.
Meanwhile, a report in The Tribune says that the off-spinner, during his recent visit to Jalandhar, had asked his friends to be ready for his big day. The marriage will be solemnised on October 29 at Hotel Cabana on the Jalandhar-Phagwara road.
“The bookings for the gala event have already been done at the hotel but the staff have been asked to maintain confidentiality. While the cricketer is away to Sri Lanka for the ongoing Test series, his family members could not be contacted at his residence in Chhoti Baradari here,” says the rport.
Members of the Jalandhar District Cricket Association have confirmed the wedding plan. A Congress leader, close to the cricketer, said, “During his visit to Jalandhar last month, Bhajji gave me a verbal invitation and asked me to be ready for his marriage on October 29.”
