Sachin Tendulkar has all arsenals to counter my swing bowling, says Dale Steyn, the best pacer in the world. He recalled one of the incidents of Nagpur Test match of2010-11 series and was quoted by Times of India saying, “Before even I started running to bowl, Tendulkar knew what I was coming with and it was hard to penetrate his tight defence.”
He went onto say, “It was hard to deceive the Master as he was picking up all my deliveries quite early which made me feel quite amazed at times. He surely plans his innings really well which makes him such a high quality-player.”
Steyn was quoted by Hindustan Times saying, “India has found some good pacers in the likes of Umesh Yadav, Vinay Kumar and Ishant Sharma who had been doing well for India in recent matches. Umesh has bowled some brilliant spells and with good speed. Ishant is one of my favourites as he has that height and pace to extract the bounce from the wicket. I have played with Vinay when I was in RCB and it was great seeing him bowling with good pace in the nest as well as in the match.”
But he made sure that India will be having a tough time when they will come to South Africa later this year. He was quoted by Indian Express saying, “We know what kind of bating fire0power India has and it’s going to be an interesting contest between bat and ball back in Africa. Our bowlers have been looking in good shape and would be looking to test the mettle of Indian batting with our pace and swing.”
He went onto say that “Wickets don’t offer as much assistance to pace bowlers on Indian wickets as they used to do in South-Africa which will surely give them a tough time in November. They have some explosive players in Shikhar Dhawan who might enjoy batting in those tough conditions.”
