Spectators hurls abuse at Harbhajan, ejected from the stadium

Despite repeated attempts and warning spectators against using abusive language and resort to offensive behaviour , a few provoked Harbhajan Singh by passing lewd comments when he was fielding in front of the Divecha Pavilion on Sunday — Day 3 of the second Test against England at the Wankhede.

After the England innings got over, Harbhajan was seen making a point to policemen stationed near the sightscreen. The cops zeroed in on the leader of the pack and took him to the Marine Drive police station, wrote the DNA.

“Some spectators were telling Harbhajan to bowl. An argument ensued and we took a miscreant for an inquiry. He was let off after a stern warning. No complaint has been registered,” senior police inspector Z Gharal of the Marine Drive police station was quoted by DNA.

Meanwhile, The Times of India wrote that After having had enough, Bhajji, already frustrated at being dropped for over a year and being reduced to a third spinner's role despite a 15-year and 99-Test experience behind him, gave the abusive spectator a piece of his mind.

The police was then informed and the spectator taken to the Marine Drive Police Station. "He kept on taunting him by saying, "Bhajji bowling karo na." He also abused him. After a complaint, we took him to the police station where he was let off with a stern warning," Z Gharal was quoted in The TOI report.

"Yes, we acted on the police complaint and threw him out. The police let him off after a warning," Mumbai Cricket Association joint secretary PV Shetty was also quoted by The TOI report.
