London Olympics bronze medallist MC Mary Kom will be the brand ambassador of the Super Fight League which is promoted by IPL team Rajasthan Royals' co-owner Raj Kundra and Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt has, says a report in the Economic Times.
"Mary's role is very simple. She is the mentor for female fighters and inspiration for male fighters. She will be part of the selection process. She has recommended to us two to three names already who have the potential. If they have what it takes to fight in the cage, we will train them," said Kundra.
The league will feature Friday fight nights from October 12 to December 14.
Meanwhile, Daily Bhaskar reports that actress Shilpa Shetty is thrilled about Mary Kom being the brand ambassador.
“Mary Kom is an inspiration for both men and women who aspire to pursue career in boxing. Moreover, for women, it is more of self defense,” Shilpa said.
Mary who has been in thick of action after her triumph at London said, ““I took long 11 years to garner the kind of recognition I have got today. So, I really want to encourage and come to the rescue of those who want to make it big in this sport through SFL. It’s a great pleasure to be associated with a brand like this.”
