What Brett Lee did was wrong, he should have got out of Sachin’s way: Shastri

Though the umpires got their decision right David Hussey’s case since the batsman was physically trying to protect himself, their take on Sachin Tendulkar’s case is questionable, writes Ravi Shatri in a column in The Times Of India.

“I am not so sure about Tendulkar. Let’s describe it frame by frame: Gambhir dabs Brett Lee in front of him on the off-side, calls his partner for a single and Lee, expectedly, crosses the pitch to prevent it. Even as he does so, he sees the ball being picked by David Warner.  Lee knows there is a batsman behind him trying to make his ground. He ought to have sidestepped, ducked and got out of the way. That’s what he would have done if a rhino was sprinting on his heels. Here, he smugly rested his hands on his knees, perfectly aware that it would deprive Tendulkar that critical half-a-second,” says Shastri.
