Gaitan returns to Atletico squad to play Gijon

football icon leagueMadrid: Midfielder Nicolas Gaitan was on Friday named in Atletico Madrid's squad for Saturday's La Liga match against Sporting Gijon after he recovered from a blow to the right foot.

Although Gaitan has not trained in the last three sessions because of the blow to his right foot, sustained last week in the second leg of the Copa del Rey semi-final against Barcelona, Atletico chief coach Diego Simeone named him in the squad, reports Efe.

However, Simeone is going to miss the efforts of Alessio Cerci in a technical decision, and Diego Godin, Juanfran Torres, Tiago Mendes, Jan Oblak and Augusto Fernandez, all with injuries.

Both Oblak and Tiago returned to train with the team but have not yet received the green light.

Simeone also confirmed that Lucas Hernandez, present in the squad against Gijon, will be able to play in Tuesday's Champions League game against Bayer Levekusen, on the same day he will face a court on charges of domestic violence.
