Neymar joined Barcelona from his boyhood club Santos in 2013. It was not easy for the Brazilian international to adapt to the new surroundings. Barcelona superstar Neymar admitted that he was afraid when he first saw Messi, Xavi and other Barcelona stars. He was quoted as saying: “I got into the dressing room and Messi, Xavi, Iniesta, Pique and Dani Alves were all there. These guys were my idols. It was almost as if I was playing on the Playstation. It was very difficult in the beginning. Dani Alves was fundamental for me when I came to Barcelona to help me adapt and become what I am now. I have a lot of time for him and for what he did for me at Barcelona.”

Neymar is now a very important part of Barcelona’s attack. He admitted about thinking that his career was over when got a spine injury during the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

He was also linked to joining Manchester United and bitter rivals Real Madrid after Spanish authorities went after him for tax reasons, but he put all the rumors to bed after signing a five-year-deal with Barcelona. He was even cleared of any wrongdoing after the case was dropped.

Neymar also supported Messi after the Argentine was sentenced to 21 months in jail. He also said that he could not imagine football without Messi when Messi announced his retirement from international football. He even went on to say that football is not football without Messi.
