German record champion Bayern set Dortmund under pressure

Berlin: Bayern Munich recorded their 12th home win owing to the 2-1 victory over Hannover and moved within two points of league leaders Borussia Dortmund while Hoffenheim came from behind to shock Monchengladbach 2-1 in the 27th round of German Bundesliga.

In an exciting match, Bayern paved the way for a win in the 36th minute as midfielder Toni Kroos lobbed Hannover goalkeeper Ron Robert Zieler for the opener.

It looked like an easy win as Bundesliga top scorer Mario Gomez doubled the lead in the 68 minute to seal the deal, Xinhua reported.

However, Hannover to their credit crept back into the match in the 74th minute when striker Didier Ya Konan reduced the deficit with an overhead kick.

Hannover tried hard to equalize but Bayern remained unfazed to kill the clock. Bayern sit in second position with 57 points whereas Hannover stay in seventh place with 38 points.

Monchengladbach recorded their second straight loss after the elimination from German Cup as Hoffenheim inflicted Monchengladbach the first home defeat of the season. Monchengladbach slipped from the third to fourth position with 51 points while Hoffenheim jumped from 12th to 10th position with 33 points.(IANS)
