IPL 2018: SRH vs DD Preview

DD batsmen run into SRH bowlersThe Sunrisers Hyderabad face the Delhi Daredevils for the first time in the ongoing season of the tournament at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on Saturday (May 5).

SRH, who are sitting at a comfortable position in the points table, have not played a match in 5 days. Before this break SRH won their last 3 games on the back of phenomenal bowling performances from their bowling unit. If SRH batting also joins the party, SRH will be quite a force to reckon with, this IPL.

DD on the other hand are in a situation where they need to be winning each of their remaining games to stay in contention for the Play offs. And with the kind of form Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer have shown DD might just have what it takes to make it to the final four.

Kane Williamson has been a great leader for SRH so far and even though he is seen as predominantly a Test batsman, he has been among the runs in the tournament and SRH would want their skipper to remain in form and score runs at the top of the order. The concern has been Shikhar Dhawan’s form following his injury and the middle order which has seems to have lacked the temperament. Barring this, there are not many issues to address as SRH skipper.

Kane Williamson has the liberty of one of the best bowling attacks in the tournament this season and he has been smart with his choices of bowlers depending upon match situations. Going into this match, SRH are definitely the happier side, however, it would be interesting to see how they regroup after the short break from the tournament. Bhuvneshwar Kumar is expected to make a come back and make that bowling attack all the more lethal.

DD, though on the lower half of the table, have nothing to lose and are a dangerous side. Prithvi Shaw has announced himself at the big stage, Colin Munro has played a good innings, Pant and Iyer have been outstanding in that lineup and all that makes for a quite a dangerous side. Even the likes of Avesh Khan and Trent Boult are doing their job with the ball in hand.

DD, given the fearless band of cricket that they are expected to play, can give a real threat to the SRH. Expect another cracker to round up the double header on Saturday.
