Shubman Gill’s half century (57*) knock and Dinesh Karthik’s (45*) another finishing touch helped KKR defeat the Chennai Super Kings by 6 wickets at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. The duo stitched an unbeaten stand of 85 runs for the fifth wicket to take their team home. This was Kolkata’s 5th win in 9 games and a win that helped them remain at the top half of the table.
At the Eden Gardens on Thursday (May 3), Chennai batted first to put on a 177 runs for the loss of 5 wickets. Skipper MS Dhoni top scored with 43* while Shane Watson (36) and Suresh Raina (31) also contributed significantly to the team total. Piyush Chawla and Sunil Narine picked up 2 wickets each.
In response, KKR got there in just 17.4 overs, losing 4 wickets in the process. Sunil Narine provided the impetus to the batting at the top with a quick fire 32. For his all-round performance, Narine was adjudged the player of the match. Lungi Ngidi, K Asif, Ravindra Jadeja and Harbhajan Singh managed a wicket each.
