Mumbai: Legendary Indian batsman Sunil Gavaskar said that Sachin Tendulkar scoring a century in the Ranji Trophy is a good sign ahead of the four Test match England series. Sachin scored a run-a-ball 137 against Railways in the Ranji Trophy opener.
Gavaskar said that he did not see too much issue the way Sachin was batting.
“He is one the most hardworking studious guys you come across. I think Sachin would have got enough time to think about how he got out. If he has got the runs now, obviously he has worked hard for it. The evidence will be seen in the Test matches. The fact that he has got runs is a good sign,” Gavaskar said to reporters.
On Friday, Sachin Tendulkar made his intentions clear ahead of the India-England Test by scoring a scintillating century, laced with 21 fours and three massive sixes, in Mumbai’s Ranji Trophy opener against Railways.
England captain Alastair Cook during an event on Friday said, ""We are certainly not writing Tendulkar off." Sachin played was very cautious in the beginning of his innings and hit his first boundary after spending more than half-an-hour at the crease. The Little Master was a bit circumspect against the pacers but punished the spinners on every given opportunity. He completely changed the pace of his innings in the last session after reaching his half-century. He overtook Rahane in no time and got to his century following some clean strikes. He looked in murderous form and got his strike-rate above hundred before he got out in the dying minutes.
