Youth Chess: Diptayan, Bommini emerge as joint leaders

Brazil: Diptayan Ghosh in Under-14 Open and Bommini Akshya in Girls Under-8 category are sharing the joint top spot in their respective categories after fifth round matches of the ongoing World Youth Chess Championship here at Caldas Novas on Tuesday. Dipatyan drew his match against Fide Master Bellahcene Bilel of France while Akshya got better of team mate Tanishka Koita in the fifth round encounter.

 

In the Under-18 Open category International Master Debashis Das held Grandmaster Fedoseev Ladmir of Russia in the fifth round battle while Nandhidhaa, sole leader after fourth round matches in Under-16 Girls’ category suffered her first defeat in the championship against top seed Ziaziulkina Nastassia of Belarus while Under-10 leaders Rathanvel and Rakesh Kumar Jena succumbed to defeat against Zhu Yi of China and Li Ruifeng of USA respectively after a rest day.
