New Delhi: Defending champion and third seed Iniyan P of Tamilnadu taken the sole lead after defeating Jayakumaar S in the fifth round of the ongoing National Sub-Junior Chess Championship at Indira Gandhi Stadium on Wednesday. Playing with black pieces in Sicilian defence game, Iniyan maintained his perfect record in the championship and garnered victory after 75 moves against his state mate rival.
Meanwhile in the Girls section unheralded Sanskirti Goyal of Uttar Pradesh shocked second seed and former World Youth Gold Medalist Priyanka Nutakki to share the lead with top seed Arpita Mukherjee of West Bengal with perfect score of five points. Arpita defeated Toshali V of Andhra Pradesh in fifth round encounter.
