Surinder Mahajan appointed as manager of Indian junior team for Asian Badminton Championship

Surinder Mahajan BadmintonChandigarh: National badminton coach Surinder Mahajan has been appointed as the manager of the Indian junior team which will participate in the Junior Asian Badminton Championship to be in Suzhou, China, from July 20 to 28. The team will leave for China on July 19.

The 65-year-old veteran Mahajan, who is also general secretary of the Chandigarh Badminton Association, had earlier also appointed as official of the Indian teams in various Asian, Commonwealth, World Games and Championships.

Having a 35 year experience in the field of coaching, Mahajan has worked with the likes of PV Sindhu, Saina Nehwal, Parupalli Kashyap and many other international players. Currently, he is posted as head coach at the Sector 38 Sports Complex and over 250 shuttlers of the Tri-city practice under his guidance on daily basis.

 “It’s a great honour to take this responsibility. I thank my well wishers and Badminton Federation of India for this opportunity. The Indian team is in good shape and we have a strong hope of winning a medal. The team had attended coaching camps at Panchkula and at the Sector 38 Sports Complex . It was treat for the local players to watch the Indian team stars love in action,” said Mahajan.
