Kuala Lumpur: 2004 Athens Olympics silver medallist Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore shot to glory at the Asian Shotgun Championship, as the Indian shooter not only won the yellow metal in the double trap at the event but also equalled the world record in the team event in Kuala Lumpur on Sunday.
Rathore won the gold in individual event after he shot 46 in the finals. His final score was 194/200. In the team event, Rathore (148) combined with Mohammad Asab (131) and Yoginder Pal (133) to bag the bronze medal.
Rathore totalled 148 out of 150 after shooting a series of 50, 48, 50 in the qualification round for a new Asian record.
Earlier, Mansher Singh has already won a gold medal in this championship, while Indian shooting team comprising Shagun Choudhary, Seema Tomar and Shreyasi Singh bagged silver in the trap team event. India settled for silver with a score of 191/225, while China won gold registering 212/225. The shooters from Kuwait bagged bronze with a score of 184/225.
