Gurgaon: Amateur Vani Kapoor and young Nalini Singh (Siwach) shared the opening day’s honours with cards of two-over 74 each in the sixth leg of the Hero WPG Tour.
Vani, who won the previous leg by a huge margin of 10 shots, had two birdies, one on either side of the turn as the green played fast and true.
Nalini, second last week at Golden Greens, had two birdies and four bogeys in her 74. It included a birdie on the closing 18th, which gave her a share of the lead with Vani. Nalini is yet to notch a win this season.
Rani Sonti of Bengaluru, who shot a fine one-under 35, on the back nine to tie for third place with Sharmila Nicollet (76). Both Rani and Sharmila had contrasting scores on the front and back nines. Rani had a 41 on front nine followed by a 35 on home stretch, while Sharmila had 35 on front nine and 41 on back nine.
Vandana Aggarwal, Neha Tripathi and Pallavi Jain carded 78 each and were tied fifth.
The Hero WPG Tour has 15 events with a total purse of Rs. 42 lakhs.
