SAI beat Assam 6-0 in Sub Junior Men National Hockey C’ship

SAI-beat-Assam-in-Sub-Junior-Men-National-Hockey-C-shipNew Delhi: Sports Authority of India registered their 2nd consecutive win by defeating Assam 6-0 in the 4th Hockey India Sub Junior Men National Hockey Championship 2014 played today at Vadodara, Gujarat.


In the second match of Pool A, Sports Authority of India (SAI) registered their second win in a row by defeating Assam 6-0. Sports Authority of India looked composed and attacked from the very 1st minute of the game. They did not let Assam to score a single goal throughout the match. It was Abdul Hussain who scored the first goal for Sports Authority of India in the 6th minute of the game through a field goal. In the 17th minute, Shubhan Verma scored another goal for SAI and took a lead of 2-0. Soon after in the 20th minute, Minaj Ali, the captain of SAI scored another goal for the team through a field goal. In the 31st minute, SAI got a penalty corner and Prashant Kabeer Sen converted it into a goal without making any mistake and took the lead 4-0 in the first half of the game.

In the second half, Assam tried to come back and kept on defending the attack of SAI. In the 54th minute of the match Shubhan Verma again scored goal for the SAI by converting a penalty corner into a goal. The last goal was scored by Jyotimoi Borah in the 65th minute of the game and helped the team to register an emphatic win over Assam 6-0.
 

In the 1st match of Pool D, Rajasthan defeated Citizens Hockey XI by 4-1 and registered their 1st win of the tournament. The match kicked off pretty well and both the team defended well against each other till the 11th minute. In the 12th minute, Urmil Kumar Sharma, scored first goal for Rajasthan by successfully converting a penalty corner into a goal and took the lead to 1-0. Just after three minutes, Krapal Singh Rajput scored the second goal for Rajasthan in the 15th minute through field goal. Citizens Hockey XI tried to come back but was not able to stop Rajasthan from scoring goals as in the 29th minute Bajrang Sain scored the third goal for the team through another field goal. The score till the half time was 3-0.

In the second half Citizens Hockey XI bounced back and Amit Prasad scored the first goal for the team in the 47th minute of the game making the score as 3-1. In the very next minute, Shivraj Shahu from Rajasthan scored another goal for the team through a field goal and finished the game with a score of 4-1 on the board.

In another match of Pool B, Himachal Pradesh beats Puducherry by 9-1. Himachal Pradesh showed an excellent temperament and did not let score a single goal in the first half of the match. Harish Kumar scored 3 goals for the team in the 26th, 32nd and 35th minute of the match through field goal and took the lead to 3-0 till the first half of the match. In the second half, Himachal Pradesh kept on the attack and in the 37th minute, Karsimran Singh scored another goal for the team through field goal and took the lead of 4-0. Ravi Kumar, Amir Ansari, Harish Kumar and Mohit Sharma scored a goal each for Himachal Pradesh in the 44th, 46th, 54th and 56th minute of the game. Puducherry tried to come back and S. Surjith scored first goal for the team in the 64th minute of the game. Vazeer Singh finished the game for Himachal Pradesh by scoring another goal for the team and the game ended with 9-1 on the scoreboard.

It was Vidarbha Hockey Association as it went on to beat Hockey Jammu & Kashmir with 3 goals to 2. It was Hockey Jammu & Kashmir which scored the opening goal of the match in the 22nd minute with Ramandeep Singh’s field goal. Vidarbha Hockey Association immediately broke the defense of the opponent and in the 26th minute they scored their first goal which helped them to equalize. With this the team was high on momentum and within 2 minutes and in the 28th minute they took the lead through Amid Khan’s field goal. Going into the second half Vidarbha Hockey Association was leading the game with 2-1. In the second half Vidarbha Hockey Association scored its 3rd goal through a penalty corner opportunity. Hockey Jammu & Kashmir tries making a comeback in the match and it finally broke the shackles of the opponents and scored its second field goal in the 60th minute. Though this was not enough and hence they went on to lose the match to Vidarbha Hockey Association.

Hockey Gangpur Odisha had a field day against Bengal Hockey Association as they went on to defeat them a huge goal margin of with 5-0. The match started with Hockey Gangpur Odisha going on the attack immediately and opened the scorecard in the 6th minute through Sibren Lakra’s field goal. They again scored in the 7th minute and this time it was the stick of Sudhir Ekka which got the team the second goal. Continuing with its attack the team scored the 3rd goal in the 20th minute with Biraj Topno converting a brilliant pass which went past the goalkeeper. By the end of the first half the team was leading 3 goals to 0. In the second half Hockey Gangpur Odisha was very high on confidence and they went on to add 2 more gaols which came in the 42nd and 66th minute and giving them a easy and convincing victory over Bengal Hockey Association.

In the other match of Pool D, Mumbai Hockey Association beat Tripura Hockey by 5-1 in a very exciting match.
