Sub-jr Women National C’ship: Mumbai beat U’khand 2-1

hockey-200New Delhi: Day-4 of the 4th Hockey India Sub Junior Women National Championship Division B, turned out to be a triumphant day for Mumbai Hockey Association Ltd, as they defeated hosts Uttarakhand 2-1. The tournament which was played at Haldwani, Uttarakhand, was a close competition, where players of the teams strived hard for the win.
 

In a Pool B match, Mumbai Hockey Association ltd made an extra effort to win the very close game and thereby defeated Uttarakhand. However, it was Team Uttarakhand that initiated the excitement in the game by converting a Penalty Corner, which came from Mamta Bhatt in the 26th minute. But in the next two minutes, Chaitrali Gawade from Mumbai Hockey Association Ltd made a striking goal bringing the teams on the same track. The cut- throat competition which started from the 28th minute witnessed a turning point in 36th minute when Simran Saini took the score up by 2-1 and lead the team towards the glorious victory.
 

The Pool A match between Hockey Bhopal and Himachal Pradesh was a one sided game and an easy one for Hockey Bhopal to win 1-0. With no goal scored in the first half of the game, both the teams seemed gearing up in the second half to be the first one on the score board. However, it was Hockey Bhopal scoring it first with the excellent strike that came from Saraswati Khanal in the 25th minute of the game. Himachal Pradesh made efforts to get into the track trying to strike at any possibility. However, there was no surprise element in the rest of the game which ended with a victory for Hockey Bhopal.
