Gurbani Singh dominates Day 2 to extend her lead

Gurbani-Singh-winner-of-day-2-of-Usha-Chandigarh-ladiesChandigarh: Shooting the first sub-par (one under 71) round of the tournament, Gurbani Singh, the overnight leader, dominated Day 2 of the USHA CHANDIGARH LADIES AND JUNIOR GIRLS GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP 2013, to open up a 10-stroke lead over her nearest rival. With one more day and 18 holes to go, Gurbani of the Delhi Golf club, should be winning this comfortably, barring a miracle, and cement her place at the top of the Indian Golf Union (IGU) Ladies Amateur Golf Tour 2013 Order of Merit list.

The PAR FOUR 10th seems to be the hole bothering Gurbani the most at the Chandigarh Golf Club course. She has recorded back to back bogeys over two days on this hole alone. However, continuing to display maturity belying her years and playing consistent percentage golf, Gurbani collected birdies on the third and fourteenth holes, to card a 71 on the day. That no other golfer could even register a par score over two days, is a further reflection of how much she is in control of her game these days. She tees off at 9.57 AM tomorrow and the title seems a mere formality now.

Tvesa Malik made the biggest move up the Leaderboard, carding a two over PAR 74 to lie second, four places up from her overnight position. She is still a good 10 strokes behind Gurbani. Gursimar Badwal who was placed second overnight, had a torrid day, carding an 80 to move down to third.

Other notable players who were in the top 10 included the likes of Gauri Monga, Ridhima Dilawari and Millie Saroha. Seher Atwal also sneaked into the top 10, following up her first day score of 84 to card a more respectable 77.
