US Open: Wozniacki, Hantuchova, Ivanovic into 3rd roundNew York: Caroline Wozniacki and Daniela Hantuchova cruised into the third round of the US Open, here on Thursday night.


The No.6-seeded Wozniacki was the first of the pair to advance, needing an hour and seven minutes to outrally Chanelle Scheepers in the first match of the night session on Arthur Ashe Stadium, 6-1 6-2. Meanwhile, Hantuchova became the last player into the last 32, ending the run of American qualifier Victoria Duval, 6-2 6-3. Duval had taken out No.11 seed Sam Stosur in a first round stunner.
 

No.7 seed Petra Kvitova defeated Bojana Jovanovski, 6-2 6-4, while No.8 seed Angelique Kerber got the better of Eugenie Bouchard, 6-4 2-6 6-3 in a two-hour, 46-minute win match. Meanwhile, No.9 seed Jelena Jankovic ended the comeback major of Alisa Kleybanova, 6-3 6-2 and No.10 seed Roberta Vinci came back from a set down to beat Lucie Safarova, 4-6 6-1 6-2.
 

Ana Ivanovic, the No.13 seed here, cruised past Alexandra Dulgheru, 6-2 6-1, while No.14 seed Maria Kirilenko, No.16 seed Sabine Lisicki, No.21 seed Simona Halep, No.24 seed Ekaterina Makarova and No.25 seed Kaia Kanepi also won. Lisicki beat Paula Ormaechea 6-2 6-3.
