Chester-le-Street: Chasing a victory target of 299 on day four, Australia collapsed from 168-3 to 224 all out in just two hours in the final session on Monday, giving England a series win in The Ashes. The hosts won by 74 runs to take a 3-0 lead in the five-match series.
Staurat Broad was the wrecker-in-chief, finishing with 6-50 and career-best overall figures of 11-121.
Earlier, England lost the final five wickets of its second innings for the addition of 96 runs to the overnight 234-5. Ryan Harris took four wickets to claim a career-best 7-117.
Australia started off their chase well as their opening pair of Rogers and David Warner added 109 for the first wicket before Rogers edged Swann to Trott at first slip. Things were looking fine until Warner was at the crease. But after he edged a beauty from Bresnan to wicketkeeper Matt Prior to go for 71, Australians never recovered.
Broad bowled Clarke (21) while Steve Smith (2) was played down off Broad. Broad then trapped Brad Haddin lbw for 4. Harris (11) too was plumb lbw to Broad, who then he bowled Nathan Lyon for 8.
And from 168 for 3, Australia were all out for 224, losing the match by 74.
