New York: Third-seeded Agnieszka Radwanska and fifth seeded Li Na had advanced to the second round of US Open after registering easy wins in their opening round clash here on Monday.
Li Na went head to head against Olga Govortsova and defeated her by 6-2, 6-2. The one-sided contest between Li and Govortsova lasted for just 64 minutes and Li Na dominated the proceedings as she didn’t face a break point and also had 28 winners. Govortsova couldn’t repeat her best performance of last year in US Open where she managed to reach the third round.
In another women’s category tie, Radwanska sailed past her opponent Silvia Soler-Espinosa by 6-1, 6-2 on Monday. She took just 63 minutes to wind up the match and with this win she also bettered the record of her win in Grand Slam openers by 28-2. She won 15 of 21 points at the net.
