Delhi’s humiliation continues, CSK win by 33 runs

cskdhoniplaysthroughoffsideChennai: Some brilliant bowling by Mohit Sharma, Dwayne Bravo and Albie Morkel, who picked up eight wickets amongst them, coupled with some fantastic knocks from skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Murali Vijay and Michael Hussey helped Chennai Super Kings beat Delhi Daredevils by 33 runs at MA Chidambaram Stadium here on Tuesday.

Chasing the target of 168 turned out to be a night-mare for Delhi as they lost the crucial wicket of Virender Sehwag in the first over bowled by Mohit Sharma. But Unmukt Chand and Johan Botha did well to add 34 runs for the second wicket. But Sharma struck once again and sent back Chand to pavilion for 16 runs and Botha soon followed him to the dug-out after scoring 23 runs.

Later, it was some fine bowling of Morkel which pushed them onto the back-foot as he got Ben Rohrer and Kedar Jadhav out in his successive overs. David Warner kept on fighting and went onto score 44 runs in 37 balls. He got out as he came under some pressure after the fall of Roelof Vander Merwe. After that Ashish Nehra and Irfan Pathan were sent back to the dug-out and DD finally finished 33 runs short off the target.

Earlier Chennai rode on the brilliant start from the duo of Murali Vijay and Mike Hussey, who added 61 runs in the 7.1 overs. Hussey was dismissed by Umesh Yadav whereas Vijay got run out by Ben Rohrer. Suresh Raina too followed suite but the 57-run partnership between Dhoni and Jadeja gave them a chance to go past 160. Bravo gave few lusty blows to add 12 runs to his name and took his team to a good total of 168 runs.
