Hyderabad: Sunrisers Hyderabad once again came out with flying colours on their home turf as they defeated Delhi Daredevils in a comprehensive manner by six wickets and with 37 balls to spare here on Saturday.
After Hyderabad bowlers bundled out Delhi Daredevils for 80 runs, their lowest total in IPL Season 6, Shikhar Dhawan and Darren Sammy played some crucial innings of 22 runs and 18 runs respectively to make sure that there were no more twists and turns in this match.
Sunrisers Hyderabad started off well while chasing the target of 81 as Shikhar Dhawan and Ashish Reddy added 33 runs for the opening partnership in just 4.4 overs. Dhawan was given leg before wicket at a score of 22 off Johan Botha. Ashish Reddy and Parthiv Patel followed Dhawan to the dug-out soon. Reddy departed after contributing just five runs to the total whereas Patel scored 14 runs.
Botha got Kumar Sangakkara out at the score of eight runs and reduced Hyderabad to 4/60 in 11.2 overs. But Darren Sammy and Hanuma Vihari forged in a partnership of 21 runs to see Sunrisers Hyderabad home in the low scoring affair. Hanuma contributed 11 runs whereas Sammy scored 18 runs in the chase.
Earlier in the match, Hyderabad bowlers dominated the proceedings and kept hitting the deck hard to get the Daredevils batsmen out at regular intervals. Mahela Jayawardene and Virender Sehwag were sent back to pavilion as Delhi were reduced to 2/32.
But the things went from bad to worse for DD when they lost their next eight wickets and added just 48 runs to their team total. Dale Steyn, Thisara Perera and Darren Sammy picked up couple of wickets each whereas Ishant Sharma, Amit Mishra and Karan Sharma got one wicket respectively.
Unmukt Chand was the highest run-scorer, who scored 17 runs off 24 balls, whereas Irfan Pathan contributed 13 runs with his bat and was the fourth batsmen to reach the double figure mark.
