Miami: Sania Mirza cruised into the women’s doubles quarter-final of Sony Open, in Miami. The Indo- American duo of Sania Mirza and Bethanie Mattek played their heart out in the pre-quarters against the aggressive pair of Jarmila Gajdosova and Sabine Liscki. They will now battle it out with Sara Errani and Roberta Vinci for a place in the semi-finals.
It was close fight for Sania and her American partner but they did well enough to emerge victorious. The match was decided in the third and final set where they showed some brilliant skills to beat their opposition by 10-7.
In the first set, Saina and Mattek were in full control and won it by 6-1.But their opponents did well to turn the tables and won the second set by 6-3 which took the match in third and final set.
Meanwhile, the exit of Rohan Bopanna and Rajeev Ram from the second round of men’s doubles has given some more shock to Indian fans. In the men's doubles second round, unseeded Bopanna and Ram were knocked out by formidable second-seeded pair of Marcel Granollers and Marc Lopez 6-4 7-6(5).
