I had been in good rhythm against Australia: Ishant

ishant sharmaNew Delhi: India’s leading pacer Ishant Sharma had been in good rhythm against Australia in the home series and is looking forward to continue that momentum going in the sixth season of IPL. He is happy with the progress after his recovery from ankle injury because of which he wasn’t fit enough to play for the almost five to six months.

Ishant told media that he was satisfied with the manner he bowled against Australia in the Test series and looking forward to carry the good form in IPL. “My performance was under-par in the first couple of matches but the bouncy wickets of Mohali and Delhi assisted me very well and I was again the pick of bowlers. I had faced lot of criticism because of my wicket taking ability but you need to see that most of our matches that are being played in India are on flat pitches which are like a death for fast bowlers but I am happy with my contribution to the team,” said Ishant.

Ishant stated after a session with young trainees at a cricket clinic 'You versus Ishant' at the Vasant Kunj Sports Complex that he and his new ball partner Bhuvaneswar Kumar were looking to be a great pair as they understand each other very well.

"My concentration was more on getting the reverse swing whereas Bhuvan was looking for the normal swing which we bowl at the start of the swing. His ability to pick wickets at regular intervals makes him very Iethal. My job was to keep the one-en tight and let the pressure build-up,” he said.

Ishant's mantra for the successful fast bowler was quite simple -- “Try to bowl fast and Line &length can be taken care off at later stages of your cricketing career. Pace is the only thing that will keep getting wickets but yes line and length are also important with that. To make it possible, fast bowlers need to have a physio and trainers for them as they gives you better understanding of your body”

Ishant will be playing for Hyderabad Sunrisers in the upcoming sixth edition of IPL and is hopeful that the franchise will do well. "Blend of our team makes it much easier for the selection of the team. Both experienced and young players are required to establish a good team and we have that combination with us and we are looking forward to make the most of that," he said.
