New Delhi: Mumbai Indians is making the headlines again. The team has got into the list of the world’s 150 most valuable sports team brands. Owned by Mukesh Ambani, Mumbai Indians is at 146th spot with a brand value of USD 48 million, whereas Football club Manchester United leads the chart with a brand value of USD 852 million.
The firm, Brand Finance plc, had compiled the list of the world's 250 most valuable sports teams, including football clubs and teams from the NFL, NHL, NBA, MLB and the Indian Premier League as on June 1 last year.
Mumbai Indians is not the only IPL team that has made it to that list. They are followed by Chennai Super Kings at USD 45 million. The champions of first season of IPL, Rajasthan Royals (USD 27 million), have the least brand value among the other teams in the competition.
