Indore: Opener Kaustubh Pawar showed character and showed great resistance to help Mumbai sign off for 235-5 on the first day of their group A Ranji Trophy match against Madhya Pradesh on Saturday.
Pawar carried his bat throughout the innings and scored 89 off 270 deliveries including 14 boundaries.
Pawar was well supported by all-rounder Ankeet Chavan who remained not out on 36 including six boundaries and put up an unbeaten partnership of 80 for the sixth wicket.
Pawar also had a significant partnership with wicketkeeper Aditya Tare who scored 42 off 89 balls with the help of eight fours.
For MP, wrecker-in-chief was Ishwar Pandey who ended the day with four wickets by giving away just 28.
