Punjab pile up mammoth 580 against Mumbai

ranjiMumbai: Punjab piled up a massive first innings total against Punjab on day 2 of their Ranji Trophy match here at the Wankhede Stadium.

Riding on Mandeep Singh’s double ton and Amitoze Singh’s 91, Punjab put up a mammoth 580.

Singh batted for 437 minutes and hit 32 boundaries and a six in his 306-ball 211, while Singh hit 11 boundaries and three sixes in his innings.

Punjab scored at a rather brisk rate and it Mumbai bowlers hardly were seen troubling the batters.

Skipper Ajit Agarkar and Ankeet Chavan were the pick of the bowlers with three wickets apiece to their name.

In reply, Mumbai could manage 69-1 at stumps,with Ajinkya Rahane and Kaustubh Pawar staying unbeaten. They still trail by a huge margin of 511 and they have a huge task at hand when they come out to bat on Monday.
