Anand picks up his first win at London Chess Classic

chessLondon: World champion Viswanathan Anand finally put an end to his winless streak after he beat Grandmaster Gawain Jones of England in the fifth round of London Chess Classic here.

Anand who was going through a grim patch picked up a victory after 17 Classical Chess games.

Meanwhile, Magnus Carlsen of Norway continued his good form and Michael Adams of England, while Vladimir Kramnik of Russia got past Luke Mcshane of England in the fifth round.

American Hikaru Nakamura accounted for Judit Polgar of Hungary.
