Haryana take control after Delhi's fight back

awanaLahli: Delhi launched a fight-back in their Group B Ranji Trophy match against after conceding a first innings lead of 83 runs as they reduced Haryana to 109-6, but the momentum shifted towards the hosts at the end of day’s play as they ended the day’s play at 167-6 here on Sunday.

Delhi after conceding the crucial first innings lead showed character and were cruising until the seventh wicket partnership between skipper Amit Mishra and Jayant Yadav.

With six wickets down, Mishra and Yadav batted beautifully to deny Delhi any further wickets. It was the captain who took the initiative in this 59 runs stand and did not hesitate before freeing his arms.

He hit a six and four boundaries in his 62-ball 50,and scored his ninth half century of the championship.

Haryana now lead with 250 runs and are course of an outright victory.

Sumit Narwal was the pick of the bowlers for Delhi as he returned with figures of 3-57 while Sumit Narwal chipped in with 2-15.

Earlier starting day at the overnight score 165-6, Delhi batsmen could add only 59 runs to their overnight total to get bowled out for 224.

Unmukt Chand was the highest scorer for them with an innings of 83 off 152 balls including nine fours and two sixes. Mithun Manhas who was battling with neck spasms scored 53 off 130 deliveries laced with five fours.

Harshal Patel and Mohit Sharma chipped in with three wickets apiece.
