New Delhi: Delhi further consolidated their position in their group B Ranji Trophy match here at the Ferozeshah Kotla Stadium here today against Tamil Nadu.
Starting at 287-1, they rode on centuries by Mohit Sharma (175) and Mohit Rawal (100) to pile up 555-4 before reducing the visitors to 31-1 at stumps on day two.
Parvinder Awana took the only Tamil Nadu wicket that fell in the day.
Earlier in the morning, the visitors got off to a great start and dismissed overnight batsman Unmukt Chand for 138. Chand hit 17 boundaries and two sixes in his 235-ball innings. Mithun Manhas was the next batsman to go for a duck.
Two early wickets and Tamil Nadu might have smelt blood, but then the duo of Sharma and Rawal dominated the day’s play.
Sharma, playing only in his third match and debutant Rawal piled up a partnership of 221 for the fourth wicket.
Sharma who went on to score the highest score of the innings hit 28 boundaries and a six in his 285-ball delivery, while Rawal’s innings of 203 deliveries was laced with 12 boundaries
Tamil Nadu skipper Laxmipathy Balaji accounted for both the wickets that fell in the day.
