Chennai: India defeated Ireland 2-1 to finish fifth in the WSF Women`s World Team Squash Championship. This is India’s best performance in the history of this tournament.
Joshna Chinappa provided India the early lead as she defeated Aisling Blake 10-12, 11-8, 11-7, 11-9.
The Irish team came back strongly as Madeline Perry beat the Indian number one Dipika Pallikal 11-7, 11-5, 15-13.
In the deciding match, India’s Anaka Alankamony showed some tremendous skills to beat Laura Mylotte 11-8, 11-7, 11-8.
Egypt defeated England 2-1 to win the championship.
