Ahmedabad: A good partnership between Rahul Dewan (77*) and Sunny Singh (55) helped Haryana reach 172/4 at the end of the second day’s play against England XI being played at Sardar Patel Stadium, Motera, Ahmedabad.
Haryana, in reply to England XI’s 521, started cautiously but lost their opener Nitin Saini in the eighth over to Tim Bresnan. With the score at 28/1, Sunny Singh came into bat and started playing his shots. He was very well supported by Dewan at the other end who played defensively and ensured that Haryana don’t lose wickets at one end.
Together the two took the score past the 100 mark; Sunny Singh got out after completed his half-century. Dewam also completed his half-century at the other end, the next two Haryana wickets felt cheaply.
Earlier in the day, England XI started their innings at 408/3, Bell who was unbeaten on 57 could only manage to add five runs to his score before he got out. Samit Patel who has looked in good touch played a good hand of 67 and got good support from Matt Prior (41).
The last five England wicket fell for only 14 runs.
