London: Indo-Czech pair of Leander Paes and Radek Stepanek defeated Aisam-ul-haq Qureshi and Jean-Julien Roger 6-4, 7-5 in their opening Group A match at the season-ending Barclays ATP World Tour Finals.
The third seeded pair of Paes-Stepanek started the match well and won the first set comfortably but had to fight it out in the second.
In the second set, the Indo-Czech pair broke their opponents serve in the 11th game and then finished the match in the next game.
Earlier in the day, India’s Mahesh Bhupathi and Rohan Bopanna lost to Jonathan Marray and Frederik Nielsen 4-6, 7-6 (7-1), 10-12 in the Group B clash.
