Mumbai: First warm-up game between England XI and India A ended in a draw in the Brabourne Stadium here today.
While Samit Patel shone for England with bat to consolidate his claim in the side with a century, while for India it was their star all-rounder Yuvraj Singh eyeing a Test comeback after a half century on the first day registered his maiden five wicket haul in the first class cricket.
Earlier starting the day, England XI resumed on 286-4 with Captain Alastair Cook (112*) and all-rounder Samit Patel (82*). Cook however could not stay at the crease for long and was eventually out for 119 which included 14 boundaries.
It was then Samit Patel (104 including 14 boundaries) and Matt Prior (51 with nine fours) who took them close to India A’s first innings score of 369. Some last minute hitting by the tail-enders took their score to 426-9. Yuvraj was the wrecker-in-chief with a haul of 5-94.
In reply, India ended the day on 124-4, with Ajinkya Rahane top scoring with 54 including six boundaries.
England will take on Mumbai A in the next- warm-up game from November 3 in Mumbai.
