Shanghai, (China): Indo-Czech pair of Leander Paes and Radek Stepanek won the ATP Shanghai Masters after they beat Mahesh Bhupathi and Rohan Bopanna in the finals here today.
The fourth seeded pair of Paes-Stepanek came back from behind to win the match 6-7(7) 6-3 10-5 in a match tha lasted for an hour and 36 minutes. They broke their opponents twice while saving four out of five.
Bhupathi and Bopanna who are bidding to be one of the top eight teams to qualify for the World Tour finals in London this month have gained a crucial 600 ranking points and enhanced their chances of making it to the event.
This is the third title for Paes and Stepanek after their Australian Open and Miami Masters triumph. They have already qualified for the World Tour Finals.
