I have to put pedal to the metal to make cut: Shiv Kapur

shiv-kapurSt Andrews: Shiv Kapur claims his two-under par round of 70 at Carnoustie in the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship is a further sign that he is adapting well to the unique challenges of links golf. The Indian golfer finished day two with an overall score of three-under 141 and made the cut at tied 56th position.

The Indian player picked out Carnoustie as his favourite course of the three earlier this week and proved it with a solid second round score over the links to leave him th ree under for the tournament.

“All in all I’m coping well (with links golf)," he said. "I’m altering my ball flight and definitely getting closer to where I want to be.  I played very solid golf, though I couldn’t buy any putts. It’s my favourite course and I gave myself a lot of chances. To play with Jamie Redknapp, Thomas Bjorn and Ruud Gullit was a fun day.

“I’m three under overall and I would like to be a few more, but hopefully I’m storing them up and will have a low round tomorrow. I’m looking fmrward to Kingsbarns. It is the most picturesque course out of the three and it’s one where there are scores to be had.

“I’ve got to put the pedal to the metal and see what happens. It’s hard to know what the cut is going to be with people spread all over the place, but if I keep shooting under par then hopefully that will be enough. “
