Beijing: India’s Sania Mirza and her Spanish partner Nuria Llagostera Vives defeated t China's Jie Zheng and Katarina Srebotnik of Slovenia 7-5, 6-1 to reach the final of the WTA premier series event of the ongoing China Open.
The Indo-Spanish pair were down in the first set but came back strongly to get the lead. There was no turning back for the fifth seeded pair from there as they sealed the first set.
In the second set, both Sania and Nuria played some exciting tennis to finish the match in one hour and 21-minutes. They will now face the Russian pair of Elena Vesnina and Ekaterina Makarova in the finals.http://www.indiansportsnews.com/administrator/index.php?option=com_content
Meanwhile, India’s double pair of Mahesh Bhupathi and Rohan Bopanna lost their quarterfinal match against Carlos Berlocq and Denis Istomin of the ATP 500 Series China Open.
The Indian pair lost the first set 2-6 but came back strongly in the second set to take it into the tie-breaker. They however lost the tie-breaker and the second set 6-7 (6).
