French Open: Paes-Peya win first round match

French Open: Paes-Peya win first round match Paris: Leander Paes and his Austrian Alexander Peya defeated the Italian pair of Simone Bolelli and Fabio Fognini 6-1, 6-7 (2), 6-3 to move to the second round in the men’s doubles category of the ongoing French Open.

The seventh seeded Indo-Austrian pair stamped their authority on the match very early and won the first set dropping only one game. After the first match it was looking as if they will run away the match but the Italian pair came back strongly to claim the second set 6-3.

The third set saw some tough tennis as both the pairs got opportunities to gain the lead. The Italian pair got three break points in the third set but they missed the opportunity. In the end it was Paes- Peya who held their nerves better and capitalized by converting the break point that they got and sealed the match. 

Leander Paes and Alexander Peya will now face Mikhail Elgin and Denis Istomin.
