Brussels Open: Sania-Bethanie through to finals

Brussels Open: Sania-Bethanie through to finalsBrussels: Indian ace Sania Mirza and her American partner Bethanie Mattek-Sands scraped past the Australian duo of Anastasia Rodionova and Casey Dellacqua 6-3, 4-6, 10-5 to make it to the finals of the USD 637,400  WTA Brussels Open.

The Indo-American pair who entered the tournament seeded fourth started off well in the match but gradually started to feel the heat and had to sweat it out to finish the match in one hour and 21 minutes.

Sania and Mattek after wrapping up the first set took a 4-2 lead in the second and it looked almost certain that they would race away to victory in no time. But their Australian counterpart won four games in a row to seal the set.

The Indo-American went down 1-4 in the match tie breaker but they showed great resiliency to win seven consecutive points and eventually wrapping up the tie by converting the first of the four match points.

After her Pattaya Open win, this is her second chance at winning a doubles title in the season.
