I-League: Jose Barreto leaves on a high note

Jose BarretoKolkata: McDowells Mohun Bagan edged past Pune FC in their summit round I-League encounter at the Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata on Sunday (May 6).

 

The victory helped Mohun Bagan to finish their campaign with 47 points from 26 matches while Pune FC finished on 46 points from 26 outings.

 

Mohun Bagan Brazilian striker Jose Ramirez Barreto playing his last match scored as soon as 6th minute into game. Barreto on a delightful pass by Hudson Lima bulged the right corner of the net to give home side an early lead.

 

I-League: Barreto leaves on a high notePune FC tried to make a comeback in the game but some poor finishing upfront cost them dearly. The half ended in favour of the Maroon brigade.

 

Changing over, the story remained the same with Pune dominating the home side but poor finishing didn’t help them much.

 

However, a minute before the regulation time Odafa Okolie doubled the score for the Mohun Bagan. On a perfect pass from India International Syed Rahim Nabi, he gave no chance to Pune custodian Subrata Paul.

 

Jose Ramirez Barreto was adjudged Man-of-the-match.
