Hobart: Team India is looking down the barrel after their loss to Australia in the last match, India have a very difficult task to proceed to the finals of the CWB tri series tournament being played in Australia. India who take on Sri Lanka here on Tuesday have their chances of qualifying for the final virtually over as they would beat Sri Lanka with a comprehensive margin. The statistic say that for India would have to chase down a target in 40 overs and if they are batting first then would need to bowl out the Lankans in least of overs to move further on in the tournament. But going by Sri Lanka’s current forms it looks a very an arduous job for the men in blue to accomplish.
Going by the current scenario odds are piled up against India and more than anything else they need to qualify for the finals to salvage their pride after getting brutally humiliated by the Australians in the four match test series. And in the ODI series also they lost four out their seven matches against two win and a tie.
Indian batting which has been its mainstay for many years now has failed miserably in Australia and for the records none of the Indian batsman has crossed the three figure mark in the ongoing tri series.
The way this team is performing it would not be harsh to say that there that it is not even remotely standing close to the finals. But not forget that India had been riding low on luck as well in the tournament. The way Sachin got out in last two matches was very unfortunate. He started off well set himself well and got out in weirdest of manner.
Indian batting looks scattered all over the place. Nothing much can be expected out of Sehwag who averages around 10 in the series. Even Virat Kohli the most successful batsman for India in the test series and one of the most consistent batsmen in ODI in recent times also failed on most occasions. There is no point talking about Suresh Raina, because more than anything he is being selected in the team for his fielding rather than anything else.
Even the Indian bowling department does not look that convincing and its puts the management in great dilemma as who to play and who not to.
Sri Lanka on the other hand is at a very comfortable position and knows that all they need to do is to avoid giving away a bonus point to sail into the finals.
At the moment Sri Lanka Sri Lanka looks a far more better side and have complimenting each other well throughout the tournament.
Before going into the match Sri Lanka starts as a clear favorites and India would require something extraordinary to stop this Lankan brigade.
